PHBA Good As Gold Permit Program

This program is designed for all palominos and non-palomino colored offspring of palominos. Any colored horse will be accepted into this program as long as the horse nominated has one palomino parent.

Because this is the first year of its inception, the PHBA Good As Gold Permit Program will begin August 1, 2009, and run through December 31, 2010.  Beginning January 1, 2011, the Permit Program will run for a calendar year.

For a yearly nomination fee,  PHBA registered horses and non-palomino horses who have one palomino parent can apply for a "PHBA Good As Gold License Permit" to participate in the PHBA Good As Gold Program. The owner(s) of a non-palomino horse must furnish a copy of the FRONT AND BACK of the PHBA recognized breed association registration papers to the PHBA Office when applying for the PHBA Good As Gold permit. All owners and exhibitors of PHBA Good As Gold License horses must be current members of PHBA.

Good As Gold permit classes shall be required to be offered at all APA shows.   At each APA’s shows,  there will be a minimum of 2 judges to a maximum of 4 judges per circuit.

The PHBA registered horses will show in the Good As Gold permit classes along with the Good As Gold Permit Licensed horses.

Good As Gold Permit classes can be combined at the discretion of show management to afford all exhibitors the opportunity to earn points.

The applicant will need to show a copy of the PHBA breed recognized papers, and pay the appropriate permit fee(s). The horse may be shown in the Division classes, and the horse’s points will count toward the class totals. The application and the Division Permit fees will be sent to the PHBA office for verification of the horse’s eligibility; however, if the PHBA office finds that the horse is ineligible for the Good As Gold Permit Program, the Good As Gold Permit fees are not refundable.

PHBA Good As Gold Paybacks

The Good As Gold Permit Licensed horses will pay the APA a $15.00 entry fee for each of the Division classes and the appropriate PHBA office fees. 80% of the class entry fees will be jackpotted and paid back as follows: 1st place = 40% , 2nd place = 30% , 3rd place = 20% , 4th place = 10%. The paybacks will be paid out on each judge, and not as an average payout for multiple judges.

A percentage of the PHBA Good As Gold permit fees will be retained by PHBA, and the balance of the PHBA Good As Gold permit fees will go into a PHBA Good As Gold Permit Fund. That fund will be distributed among the Top Ten PHBA Good As Gold horses for each of the Good As Gold Divisions.

The year-end payout percentages will be as follows: 1st place = 20%, 2nd place = 17%, 3rd place = 15%, 4th place = 12%, 5th place = 10%, 6th place = 8%, 7th place = 6%, 8th place = 5%, 9th place = 4%, and 10th place = 3%.

The Top Ten High Point winners will be compiled using the PHBA National Point System. To level the playing field for all regions, PHBA will use your top 15 shows (1 show = 1 judge) to determine the Top Ten Year-end High Point PHBA Good As Gold winners.

The PHBA Good As Gold License Permit Program will be subject to review on an annual basis.
