October 2013
Your Palomino Horse Breeders Heritage Foundation board members have continued to work on the museum throughout the spring and summer. There have been three work sessions since the grand opening during the 2013 PHBA Convention this past March.
Some of the accomplishments have been putting new frames on some of the hanging exhibits, documenting the items which are either on loan or have been donated to the PHBHF museum, adding more exhibits and items, working on the touch screens, planning for the large task of archiving some of the old documents, registrations, photographs and such, planning for the celebration of the 1st Anniversary of the Museum and taking steps to ensure that there is a sound, fiscal future plan in place for the Foundation. The PHBHF is pleased to welcome Carol and Terry Goble of Dalton, GA to the board.
The Foundation is very pleased to have three students from the Oklahoma State University ( Stillwater), working on the development of strategic plans for growth of PHBHF’s financial and public exposure future. Amy, Jeanette and Taylor are working under the guidance of Traci L. Naile, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Agriculture Education, Communications and Leadership, to formulate the plan. Dr. Floyd and Lynn Branson are the Foundation board’s liaisons on this project. The PHBA members attending the 2014 Convention in Tulsa this coming March will have a chance to meet them.
The Foundation is very excited about the celebration of the 1st Anniversary of the opening of the museum and is planning a very special night for the PHBA members and friends at no additional charge for those attending the 2014 convention on Thursday, March 13th in Tulsa. PHBA directors and their guests will be invited to tour the museum and see all the updates, the evening will feature dinner at the hotel and entertainment provided by Craig Clemons, Chief Development Officer of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum at Oklahoma City. The highlight will be his program, The Wisdom of the West, consisting of storytelling, pictures, and live music. Mr. Clemons is a published songwriter and a very talented singer. This evening promises to be not only entertaining, but educational as well. The PHBHF is looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
The Foundation’s next workdays will be November 13th through the 16th. If you are interested, come over and see what is being done with your investment in the past, present and future of PHBA’s history. Contact any of the Board for information or questions.
