2015 PHB Heritage Foundation Annual Meeting

The Palomino Horse Breeders Heritage Foundation held their Annual Meeting Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Hyatt-Regency Downtown, Tulsa, OK.  Some items of business that were discussed/acted on included:  the re-election of all 2014 officers to a 2015 term, review of the convention schedule and the official welcome to the new board members, Darrell Bilke, Mimsi Coon and Thomas Coon.

Plans for the 75th Anniversary of PHBA celebrations and commemoration events were discussed.  One item will be the publication of a 75th PHBA Anniversary book.  Advertising will be sold to pay for the costs of printing and the book will be given to members at no charge.  The Amateurs, Youth, Challenged Horseman, Trainers Crisis Fund, the Youth Scholarship & Education Fund, etc., will all be responsible to get the information they would like presented to the Foundation for the issue.  The Board has contacted several printers for information regarding content and pricing.  Special souvenirs for the 75th Anniversary were discussed and ideas/prototypes will be looked at the next Heritage Board meeting on April 29th,30th and May 1st.

The 2015 World Show will feature the Heritage Open Western Halter and Pleasure classes as in the past. The date is July 16th  The judges for these two classes will be Tom McBeth and Terry Goble. These will remain payback classes.  Added has been the PHB Heritage World Champion Ranch Riding class.  The trophy will be by Cowboy Bronze, there will be a cash payback.

RFD 4 TV has received all information they had requested.  A commemoration of the Will Rogers Memorial Tribute by PHBA is being followed up with plans to meet with the Will Rogers Museum representatives.

The annual Thursday evening Heritage Night was a huge success with a nice dinner served by the hotel to the attendees and a very entertaining musical evening by country western artist, Cliff Shelder.  Affiliated Palomino Associations who were celebrating their 70th and 50th Anniversaries were recognized; Florida (FPEA), Missouri (PEAM), Ohio (PEAO), Minnesota (MPHE), South Dakota (SDPEA), Wisconsin (PEAW) and Michigan (MPHA) were the 70 year recipients and Indiana (HPA) is a 50 year charter club.  All the APAs had delegates there to receive their awards.  Saturday evening, the Foundation co-hosted with PHBA, a reception honoring the Hall of Fame recipients of 2014; Tom Hennigh and Skip Topkick for the Humanitarian Award and Alda Buresh for the Service Award.
